The Last of Us, HBO’s 2023 post-apocalyptic drama, has broken yet another record with the release of its fourth episode, which saw 7.5 million viewers across the United States tune in on HBO Max and linear telecasts. According to Deadline, the numbers represent a 17% increase in viewership from episode 3, which received 6.4 million views.

The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Nico Parker plays Sarah, Merle Dandridge plays Marlene, Anna Torv plays Tess, Gabriel Luna plays Tommy, Nick Offerman plays Bill, Murray Bartlett plays Frank, Lamar Johnson plays Henry, and Melanie Lynskey plays Kathleen, among others.

The Last of Us gains viewers for the third week in a row.

The Last of Us Episode 4 saw a 17% increase from the previous episode, as well as a 60% increase from the series’ debut on January 15, 2023. These statistics are based on Nielsen and third-party data.

Since its debut, the series has seen a consistent increase in viewership, which is expected to continue.
Please Hold to My Hand was the title of Episode 4.

Craig Mazin wrote the screenplay and directed it. Joel and Ellie were on their way to Wyoming to find Tommy. In Kansas City, they are ambushed by bandits but manage to outwit them. Kathleen, the ruthless but soft-spoken rebel group leader, and her commander, Perry, are then introduced to us.

They appear to be looking for a brother and sister named Henry and Sam. Ellie and Joel seek refuge in a building, but in the episode’s final scene, we see the aforementioned siblings point guns at them.
The Last of Us was renewed. The show has already been renewed for a second season due to its massive success.

This was made public in January 2023. Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, stated following the quick renewal: “With their masterful debut season of “The Last of Us,” Craig and Neil, along with EP Carolyn Strauss and the rest of our phenomenal cast and crew, have defined a genre. After an unforgettable first season, I can’t wait to see this team outperform themselves again in season two.”

Co-showrunner/executive producer Neil Druckmann added”I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations.”

He continued:

“Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!”

Starting this Friday, February 10, at 9 p.m. ET, The Last of Us episode 5 will be available on HBO Max and HBO On-Demand.
